Dewey, being the inquisitive inspector of cheap electronics that he was, decided that he was not going to place a "#8" inspection sticker on the stereo remote control manufactured by a company which he had already forgotten; he was going to let this one go uninspected. Omar his supervisor wouldn't noticed if one remote went without a sticker. Now he would be able to see if his remote would be a defective one and the customer would be unhappy with the product. Eventually, after the stack of remotes became too large for him to ignore any longer, he realized that word of a defective remote would never reach him and he proceeded to inspect the remote properly.
