My only big disappointment with Watchmen was the failure to make you identify with Adrian Veidt, in the sense that the comic gave you that he made the right choice. I remember being shocked by the end of the comic, and thinking that, for once, the bad guy wasn't necessarily bad. Honestly, scared the crap out of me that I even thought that. The movie represented him as the insane madman that all villains are.

Also, it bothered me that the movie didn't try to enforce the signals that Rorschach was a closet homosexual like the book did. Just one of those little things that felt important.

Jackie Earl Haley, on the other hand, is probably my choice for Perfect Actor in his Role for the year. No one could've done that better.

Guess I wasn't reading it "hard enough" but I didn't pick up on Rosarch homo-ness

It was his relationship with Dan. There wasn't any part where the comic said, "Oh, Rorschach was a homo," but if you picked up a little bit on pre-Watchmen story, they really were more than just partners.

I dunno, Luke can definitely tell you more, I don't want to say anything wrong.

The most significant thing is the hand shake between him and Dan right after Laurie leaves to Mars with Doc ManHat.

The didn't emphasize it at all in the movie, but in the comic you could tell it was uncomfortably long for Dan, as he gets antsy and starts looking around for some way to end it. and of course, Rorschach stares at him the entire time.

Not to mention the double meaning of his outburst in jail of "I'm not trapped in here with you, you're trapped in here with me!"

Also, forgot this part, but there's the whole concentration on his past where his mother gives him a horrible outlook on women, and his landlady further pushes that emphasis. and his comment to the landlady when they come to get his spare "face" in the book about how she lied about him hitting on her. How strongly he feels about that lie and how much he gets in her face to the point where Dan has to pull him back.

It's all in the subtle signs, and combining them tells the story. That's how Alan Moore writes.

hmmm makes sense... besides the jail thing... I was thinking of it more like he was a caged beast and they were just trapped in there with him (he'll fuck'em up or something) but i guess thats plausible too

Like I said, double-meaning.
